“The most beautiful people in the world” is a global photo-project initiated and performed by Michel Szulc Krzyzanowski.
Started in 2004, in 10 countries large announcements were published in serious newspapers requesting people, who believe they are the most beautiful person in the world, to respond by sending a letter explaining their reasons for their opinion. In the announcement it was explained that it concerns a non-commercial art-project and that the results were intended for publications and exhibitions. All the persons who wrote a letter were contacted and an appointment was made. The person was visited in his or her home by a team of the project “The most beautiful people in the world”. In the home situation the person was portrayed and pictures were made how and with who the person was living. Finally, the person was interviewed to get a short and powerful statement about the reasons why there was belief to be the most beautiful in the world.
The last of the 10 countries, India, was visited in March 2008. The other countries are China, Iran, Namibia, France, Spain, Poland, the USA, Mexico and Brazil.
Over the years the results of this global photo project have been published and exhibited in many countries.
