13 November 2010 – 8 January 2011
"Ndoto – Tanzania Dream” focuses on the travels Aernout made to Tanzania. The overwhelming nature and the everyday life of the Masai are beautifully captured.
Aernout Overbeeke: “As a boy of 12 years old I wanted to see the world that I looked at in magazines as Life: far away, large, not easy to reach. But that all changed in the last decades. Now it’s easy travel around the world and one of the consequences is, that many places start to look like each other. That’s the tragic way of progress. I have to capture the old before it vanishes.”
Aernout Overbeeke (Utrecht, 1951) is a successful fashion and advertising photographer. Working all over the world, for the most important agencies and magazines, he really thrives when he can make his free work. Influenced by Irving Penn, he lets people and landscapes dominate this part of his work.
Ludion Publishers (Antwerp) will publish the book in November 2010. At the same time the photographs will be shown at the COBRA Museum in Amstelveen (28 November 2010 – 9 January 2011) and at our gallery (). A selection of prints will also be shown by us at PAN Amsterdam (21 – 28 November 2010).
