Human Angels Series

Marie Cécile Thijs depicts angels as man's impromptu companions. In her work, angels are a timeless metaphor representing hope and autonomy. She intermingles the surreal world of angels with today's world to create a new reality. She also shows angels in more of a traditional portrait setting, partly inspired by classical painting and sculpture.

The series 'Human Angels' started in 2005 in the Melkweg Gallery Amsterdam, and is since then regularly exhibited. Photos from this exhibit have been acquired by several art collectors and companies, and shown at the renowned fine art fair 'PAN Amsterdam' in 2009.' Photos titled ‘Angel Boy with Dog’ and ‘Angel Girl’ were nominated in the Masters Cup of the International Color Awards 2009 (categories: Portrait Professional & Fine Art Professional).
